Jonathan participated in the last round of AKOC in Saraburi. He joined the 125 Open Senior class with his KF2. There were a total of 27 entries in this class.
Practice : Jonathan had a lot of problems with the set up. But at the end of the day he managed to set some really fast lap times.
Qualifying : Jonathan qualified in 5th position.
Heat 1: Jonathan had a blasting start and finished 2nd in that heat.
Heat 2: Starting at the same position again, Jonathan fought well with Tin Sritrai for the 2nd position but couldn’t overtake him, so he finished 3rd.
Heat 3: Right after the start, Jonathan was pushed from the back and spun out, facing the 22 other karts, 3 of them crashed into him and bent his chassis. This wasn’t promising for the next day for the pre-final and final.
After a lot of working on the mechanical side to re-straighten the chassis, they finally made it.
Pre-Final: Jonathan, started in 3rd position. We didn’t know how his kart would react after the big accident of the day before. After a blasting start, Jonathan kept his position and made it to the top. He was leading the race for about 10 laps until his right rear tyre got a puncture. He was almost 2 seconds per lap slower, and in the 2 last laps, he couldn’t do better than 3rd.
Final: Jonathan was on 3rd. After a good start, he climbed up into 2nd position, actually first in the AKOC race. The first position driver was driving another championship with different weights and mechanical rules. The grip was very high on Saraburi track and Jonathan could feel that the kart was changing back to the way it was in the accident little by little. He couldn’t defend any longer the attacks of Tin Sritrai and Tanart. He crossed the finish line in 3rd position. A satisfying result with the broken equipment he was driving.
Jonathan would like to thank: Prosportasia, Mike Ord, Ohm and Sangali for their support, and to all the other people who supported him during this event.
